IT Accessible Technology

Electronic information has become an essential part of the student experience, and an equally important part of work life for faculty and staff. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) mandates that UC Santa Cruz, as an educational instutition, make its programs, services, and activities accessible to, and usable by, people with disabilities. When faculty and staff use the Internet to provide information, they are required to make that information accessible to those using adaptive technology.

Accessibility not only applies to a variety of users with a disability, but also ensures access for people who cannot use a mouse, elderly people, people with reading disabilities and the growing number of users who browse the web using mobile phones, palm computers and speech-controlled browsers.
