ITS Training and Development
There are two kinds of training and development:
UCSC Sponsored
UCSC sponsored training and development are classes offered by the university and are published in a flyer that is distributed quarterly. The business office keeps a copy of the classes being offered. Training and Development web site has further information on UCSC sponsored training, such as current schedules, class listings and general information. To attend a class being offered by Training and Development:
- Obtain approval from your supervisor to attend a particular class
- Go to the Training and Development website and sign up for the desired class online.
- You will receive a recharge form from Training and Development with full instructions. Please return the recharge form, together with your supervisor's authorization, to the Business Office.
Non-UCSC Sponsored
Non-UCSC sponsored training and development is training offered by vendors, such as CISCO, Oracle and Microsoft. Please follow the steps below to attend non-UCSC sponsored training:
....and remember to give yourself plenty of time to enroll
- Obtain approval and authorization from your supervisor.
- You will then need to contact the vendor and determine how to pay for the class. Each vendor is different!
We will need to know whether the vendor needs:
- A trip number, OR
- A purchase order
- Once you have this information, please contact Renee Plett (9-5452).
Finding out how we need to pay for non-UCSC sponsored classes well in advance of the training will make the process smooth.
Renee will be able to help with questions about trip numbers and other expenses that may be associated with having to travel to the training.
- See the Travel page for information on reimbursement for travel.
