iPhone, iPad, iPod Settings for UCSC Google Email

To configure the 'Email' app on an Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch devices for access to UCSC Google Email, just follow the steps listed below. If you encounter difficulties, please contact the ITS Support Center.

If you already have your email client or mobile device set up to use CruzMail, then on or after Nov. 14, all you need to do is change your settings.

Note: These setup instructions are for Apple devices running software version 4.0

  1. Make sure that IMAP is enabled in your main UCSC Google email settings
  2. Open the Settings app on your device
  3. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  4. Tap Add Account...
  5. Tap the Gmail icon
  6. Enter your account information, being sure to use your full UCSC Google email address, (name@ucsc.edu).
  7. Tap Next
  8. Tap Save

You can verify or change your settings from CruzMail to Google by opening the Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap open your Account information. 

Incoming settings

  • IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
  • Port: 993
  • Security type: SSL (always)

Outgoing settings

  • SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port: 465 or 587 (both will work)
  • Security type: SSL (always)
