SlugMail is Moving to UCSC Google
An important change will take place to student UCSC SlugMail email accounts in mid-February 2012. Please read the following for more information.
ITS is planning on migrating all SlugMail email accounts over to the new faculty and staff UCSC Google email domain in February 2012. The current email infrastructure is set up to better manage one Google domain and we currently have two - SlugMail for students and UCSC Google Email for faculty and staff. In order to have a stable email environment, ITS needs to move SlugMail over to UCSC Google Mail as soon as possible with the least amount of impact on students.
Details for Students
- Student email addresses won't change, (name@ucsc.edu) and it doesn't appear that there will be any email outage during the migration.
- Students will even have access to their old SlugMail account for many months after they begin using their new UCSC Google email account.
- Students will need to change their mobile device settings since "SlugMail" is going away, but don't change anything now!
- Students will need to change their forwarding, if they currently forward their SlugMail account to a different email account.
This page will be updated with the latest information in January 2012.
