Information Technology Services uses a multi-layered method to protect your UCSC email account from unwanted spam. Most spam is blocked and bounced as it arrives if it comes from well-known spamming sites. 

Since the campus email system is powered by Google, the spam filters set up by Google automatically divert messages that are suspected of being unwanted into '[Gmail]/Spam' and keeping them out of your inbox.
