Advisory Committee for IT (ACIT) Charge

Co-Chaired by: Vice Chancellor – Information Technology & University Librarian (through fiscal year 2010-11)

Meetings: Twice quarterly or as needed

Charge:
The Advisory Committee for Information Technology (ACIT) provides a forum for reviewing, evaluating, and recommending strategies, plans, and policies for campus information technology in order to support and advance campus priorities.  The work of the ACIT is intended to further an information technology environment that supports and facilitates the accomplishment of campus, divisional, and individual goals.  ACIT solicits input as appropriate from campus senior management, relevant Academic Senate committees, advisory committees, and a wide range of campus constituencies. This committee is charged to:

  • Review, recommend and advocate for the campus’s information technology direction, capabilities, strategic objectives, and resource allocation
  • Identify opportunities where information technology can assist the campus in achieving its goals, and evaluate the readiness of the campus to leverage such technologies
  • Establish and monitor measurable objectives for campus information technology to ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Ensure that information technology is appropriately incorporated into all campus-level planning initiatives
  • Advise and recommend information technology strategies and approaches to enhance and simplify the end user experience
  • Charge subcommittees and workgroups comprised of subject area experts to evaluate impacts and outcomes of proposed strategic decisions, recommend policies and direction, and report on progress and status in specified areas

A steering committee of the co-chairs and assigned members shall meet prior to ACIT meetings to develop meeting agendas and materials, review and/or draft proposed policies and standards, and oversee logistical issues.

Composition:
Committee membership will include one representative designated by the principle officer of each academic division, academic support division, EVC’s areas, and the Library.  In addition, membership includes representation from appropriate Academic Senate committees, under graduate and graduate students, an academic department manager, an ITS director, two divisional liaisons, and chairs of the sub-committees.

Meetings:
The Committee will meet as a whole no less than twice per quarter.  At each meeting, Subcommittee chairs will report on subcommittee activities.

Tenure:
Committee representatives will serve three-year staggered terms with option to renew.
