Identity Management (IdM) System

System Overview

The Identity Mangement system went live on August 25, 2007. Initially, the system supports the creation and closure of "CruzID" accounts, which allow access to CruzMail, CruzNet, Instructional Computing Labs and several other "core" campus systems.

The Identity Management system uses information from the campus Payroll (PPS), Student (AIS), and Faculty (DivData) systems to determine what systems an individual needs access to, and when that access should expire. For more information about what statuses the system tracks and what services a user will receive, follow the Design Overview link on the left edge of this page.

The Identity Management system will gradually introduce support for user self-service functionality, reduced sign on (fewer usernames and passwords) and single-sign on. In January 2009, IDM will begin supporting passwords and logins for several UC-wide applications as part of the UCTrust Federation.
