October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month! The goal of this annual national campaign is to raise awareness about steps each of us can take to stay safer and more secure online.
ITS will run a series of articles this month that highlight important cyber security topics. This year's messages include:
- General cyber security pointers and tools
- Protecting information on mobile devices
- Information about the differences between restricted, confidential, and non-confidential data
- Pointers for creating good passwords and keeping them secure - Part 1 and Part 2 (coming soon)
Look for links to these articles in the UCSC online News and Events and the ITS web site (its.ucsc.edu). Also look for cyber security posters around campus and on campus shuttles, a new barn sign, and a banner at the base of campus. These articles and posters provide some tools, resources, and concrete steps you can take to help protect your personal and work-related information. Please read them and help to spread the word.
Thank you for your efforts to increase awareness of cyber security issues. Additional resources are available on the ITS Security web site: http://its.ucsc.edu/security/
If you have any questions, please contact the ITS Support Center.
