Classes have begun; fall is in the air. New students are finding their way; returning students are reconnecting with friends. This is a great time of year!

A lot of activity has taken place over the summer and in spite of the continuing bad budget news including furloughs, salary reductions, and service reductions, there are a few bright spots.

  • On September 23, we began offering a new email service to students called SlugMail powered by Google. The response has been very positive. SlugMail
  • We have selected the Sakai open source learning management environment to replace WebCT and will be testing during fall in preparation for conversion of courses during the remainder of the academic year. Learning Management System
  • The long-awaited Dark Fiber Project is nearly complete. More information will be forthcoming later in the quarter. Dark Fiber
  • Considerable work has been accomplished on the Web Presence and Services Program including contracting with Rolling Orange on design elements and the completion of an RFP process to select a web content management system. Web Program
