CruzNet Secure - New Service

November 3, 2009

On November 3, ITS began offering a more secure campus wireless service called CruzNet Secure available to faculty, staff, and graduate students. CruzNet Secure is in addition to the current CruzNet wireless service that is available to the entire campus, alumni, and guests.

What is CruzNet Secure?

CruzNet Secure uses WPA (Wi-Fi protected access) to provide data encrypted wireless service, meaning the transfer of information is unreadable if intercepted. It also helps prevent unauthorized users from connecting to the campus network. Since WPA provides additional security and data protection, ITS recommends that all faculty, staff, and graduate students use the new CruzNet Secure wireless service.

How to Use CruzNet Secure

A CruzID, CruzNet Secure password, and a one-time configuration of your computer or mobile device is required to use CruzNet Secure. For self-guided instructions on set up and computer configuration, go to: CruzNet Secure

If you have questions or need assistance setting up CruzNet Secure, please submit an IT Request ticket at https://itrequest.ucsc.edu or contact the ITS Support Center by email help@ucsc.edu, telephone 459-HELP(4357), or in-person Kerr Hall Room 54.
