Project Contact:

General Overview

Currently COAST has approx 35 servers in an office that was converted into a computer/server farm. The current space is not adequate to support a Tier 1 data center, which does not support adequate power or temperature controls. Staffing is current below adequate support levels, and responsibilities have staff pulled in multiple priorities and directions. Currently the COAST server farm is aging and is reaching MTBF thresholds.

Purpose

Develop a strategy, service agreement and architecture for the existing COAST server farm to a Tier 1 data center with power, conditioned air and facilitate the consolidation of the 35 servers into an adequate level of processing and storage capacity.

Scope

  • Create a customer requirements documentation
  • Develop a detailed Service Level Agreement (SLA) to ensure continued level of customer support, that includes clear guidelines of separation of responsibility between COAST and ITS
  • Develop a staffing requirements/funding plan
  • Create position descriptions for the required personnel
  • Develop a transition plan for equipment
  • Develop and RFP for required equipment and services
  • Develop a communication/training plan
  • Develop an appropriate cut over schedule with adequate parallel run times
