Service Catalog Change Log

Summer 2008 June 30, 2008

Service Catalog Home Page
The “A-Z Service Index” and “Services by Affiliation” pages have been consolidated into tabs on the catalog home page. This improves discoverability and quick access to these other catalog views.

Quicklinks have expanded names to reflect the terms that users are searching for. “Desktop standards” has been added and “Web Development” was changed to the “Web Services” topic page.

The “What’s New” section lists new services added to this edition of the catalog and the ITS information user page.

A “Service Topics” section has been added to provide links and better visibility to catalog pages that are usually hidden in the side nav bar.

A basic services list will be displayed when JavaScript is disabled in a visitor’s web browser.

Summer Services 2008
This page has been reviewed and updated to reflect service information that is specific to the summer timeframe. It is published during the summer and has info about labs, accounts, summer session, and conference-related services.

Service Manager Names
As a result of review/discussion in the IT Services Group, individual Service Manager names are being removed from the service pages.

Service Pages
Several new services are being added to the catalog:

• Emergency Telephone Services
• FileMaker Design and Development
• FileMaker Database Hosting

These services are moving to the full service page template:

• Directory Services
• Network Services (named changed from "Campus Wired Network")
• Server Hosting
• Telephone Services

Include contact information on all small-format service pages.

Standard Desktop Support
Updates to the standards section
Added link to SDS-Service Level Agreement

Newsgroups
Added link to course newsgroups page

Retired Services
The following service is being retired and removed from the catalog:

• Remote Access – Modem Services

Information User Updates
Service pages are being updated to include references to the Information User funding model in the cost and pricing sections. Links have been added to the ITS IU web pages.

Support Center Contact Block
The Support Center info that appears on many catalog pages has been standardized and converted to an include so changes can be made in one file and be made visible on all pages that include it.
Added link to IT Request-FAQ form.

Software
Eudora download links have been removed.
The software service page has been simplified to improve usability.
Software lists have been reorganized and simplified to make applications easier to find.
Support level information has been added to software pages.
Combining related pages has reduced the number of software pages.

Desktop Standards
The “Operating Systems” , “Core Software”, and “Add-On” Software pages have been consolidated into a single “Operating Systems and Software” page.
Software support levels have been added to the list of standard software.

Side Navigation Bar
The top and bottom contact section of the side nav bar are identical to the global ITS web site nav bar.
Quicklinks match the list on the catalog home page and are in alphabetical order.
A link to the ITS Google Analytics info page has been added.

Feedback Form
The catalog feedback form has been clarified further to prevent visitor's from entering support requests into the feedback form.
The form now resides in a dedicated directory.
The feedback form category menu was updated with current categories.
