UCSC complies with a broad spectrum of federal, state, and UC requirements. Many of these requirements involve or affect UCSCs computing systems, networks, and management of electronic data. We facilitate the development and implementation of campus policies, procedures, and guidelines that address these campus IT requirements.

We also provide services and documentation in support of federal, state, UC, and UCSC requirements. This includes facilitation and training with respect to campus IT security requirements. Areas of focus include compliance with:

• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
• Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirements
• UC Electronic Communications Policy (ECP)
• UC information security requirements (IS-3)
