Using Computer LabsThe labs are available for Students, Instructors and Summer Conferences. Most labs are open from early in the morning until late at night with some labs open 24 hours.

The 12 lab locations are geographically distributed across campus for easy access from wherever you are.

Features and Functions Labs with Macintosh, Windows, and Unix (Solaris) computers are available with an extensive software library already installed. Instructors can request the installation of additional software for course use.

Every lab computer provides automatic access to your UCSC home directory for shared file storage and offer black and white laser printing for $0.12/page. Color laser printing is available at the Porter Arts lab. Most locations have consultants available to provide technical assistance.

Instructional Computing provides adaptive technology resources so that students with disabilities can use the labs effectively. General adaptive technology is available in all IC labs.
