Basic Settings for IMAP and POP
Your email client program can access your UCSC email using either IMAP or POP. The configuration of your client is different depending on which method you are using.

Email Clients - Installation - IMAP
Using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocoll) causes email to be stored on the mail server where you can access new and stored messages from various computers, including CruzMail web mail.

Email Clients - Installation - POP
Using POP (Post Office Protocol) causes email to be downloaded from the mail server to your local computer. This keeps the server inbox empty until new mail arrives.
