Mac OS 9 Configuration

Macintosh OS 9 configuration

  1. Make sure your computer's AirPort card is active ("on"). Use either the control strip or Airport application in Applications > Apple Extras > Airport.
  2. Make sure you are in an area served by CruzNet. See Coverage Map.
  3. Select the Control Panel > TCP/IP under the Apple Menu. If your current settings are for PPP or ethernet, you should create a new configuration to use when you are on CruzNet.
  4. Select File >Configurations >Duplicate and name it something like "CruzNet."

  5. Click "Make Active" and you'll return to the TCP/IP control panel. Select Airport from the "Connect via" drop-down window. Select "Using DHCP Server" from the "Configure" drop-down window. It should look like this:
  6. Close the TCP/IP window and save changes when prompted (you do not need to restart).
  7. If you open the Airport Application in the Airport application in Applications>Apple Extras>Airport, it should look like this:
  8. Launch your web browser. You will be automatically taken to CruzNet for network authentication. Login with your UCSC I.D. and password.
