| Using palmOne Treo 650 with CruzTime Home For Macintosh Computers (OS X 10.4.x / palmOne Treo 650)In order to get your palmOne Treo 650 to work with the CruzTime Calendaring System, you need to have performed a standard Palm Desktop installation. The current version supporting OS X (10.4 Tiger) is Palm Desktop 4.2.1 D. Obtain a current version of Oracle Calendar Sync Installer from our web site
Launch the Palm Desktop software and from the HotSync menu, select Install Handheld Files....
Click the Add to List button and select Oracle Calendar Sync.prc Click the Add File button. Sync your handheld. This will place the file Oracle Setup on your Treo. Configuring ConduitsOur objective is to move the default Palm conduit that manages the Datebook application into the Disabled Conduits folder. In its place, we will be using the Oracle Calendar Events Conduit.In the past, we have not recommended the use of two Oracle Calendar conduits (Oracle Calendar Address Conduit and Oracle Calendar Tasks Conduit). In earlier versions of both the Palm OS and Oracle Calendar software, we found that Tasks and Addresses were easier to manage using the Palm tools. Navigate to your Palm HotSync folder. It is located at Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Palm HotSync. In this folder you will see two conduit folders; Conduits and Disabled Conduits.
You may find it easiest to open both folders to drag the conduits we'll not be using to the Disabled Conduits folder. Drag the Datebook, Oracle Calendar Address and Oracle Calendar Tasks conduits from the Conduits folder to the Disabled Conduits folder. On the TreoFind the Oracle Setup file on your Treo. Tap the application to open the configuration settings.
Enter your CruzTime user name and password in the appropriate fields. Select To Server from the Connect field. Enter the server name cruztime.ucsc.edu and node cruztime as shown in the graphic above.
Tap the menu at the top right of the Oracle Setup screen to gain access to other configurations.
In the Dates menu, configuration the date range you wish to sync from CruzTime to your Treo.
In the Events menu, make sure that the Location is selected. This will append the location of your event in the Event Title when your calendar is displayed on the Treo.
The other Oracle Setup menus, Addresses and Tasks are left unconfigured. |
