IT Security Awareness Resources
Everyone who uses a computer needs to understand how to keep their computer, data, and other electronic devices secure. Members of the UCSC community are also responsible for familiarizing themselves and complying with University policies, procedures and standards relating to information security. The resources on this page are designed to provide practical, largely non-technical information about IT security. Also included are links to related policies and laws and other security services. Reporting Computer Security Incidents A Computer Security Incident Is: Any attempted or successful unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of computing systems, data or networks (including hacking). Immediately report suspected computer security incidents & breaches to your supervisor and the ITS Support Center. If no one is available to receive your report, contact the ITS Security Response Team at security@ucsc.edu Any suspected theft of UCSC-related computing equipment should be reported to the UCSC Police Department, and to the local authorities if the incident occurred away from campus. Be sure to let the campus police know if the missing equipment contains sensitive information. Policy Policies form the foundation of any security infrastructure.
