Apple iPhone (IMAP) Mail Settings for CruzMail

 

This tutorial will show you the recommended IMAP email settings for your Apple iPhone mail account.

 

Basic Settings

Username your Cruz ID (do NOT include @ ucsc.edu)
Incoming Mail Server cruzmail.ucsc.edu
Return Address <CruzID>@ucsc.edu (username@)
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server cruzmail.ucsc.edu


1) Turn on your iPhone and open Settings from your list of icons.

2) From the settings menu, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then select Add Account.

3) The Add Account screen will appear.

 

 

4) Select Other as your account type.

5) The New Account screen will appear.

 

 

6) Fill in your Full Name in the first line, your Email Address (cruzid@ucsc.edu) in the second line, your password in the third line, and a short description of the account in the final line.

7) Click Save in the upper right hand corner to continue to the next page.

Make sure that your settings match the following:

  • For the Incoming Mail Server enter the following information:
    • Host Name: cruzmail.ucsc.edu
    • User Name: the first part of your UCSC email address, so everything before the "@" symbol
    • Password: this field should have been filled in automatically, but if it was not, please enter your password here.
  • For the Outgoing Mail Server enter the following information:
    • Host Name: cruzmail.ucsc.edu
    • User Name: the first part of your UCSC email address, , so everything before the "@" symbol
    • Password: your email password

8) Click Save to continue.

9) The Mail, Contacts, Calendar screen will appear.

10) Under Accounts, select the new account you just created. By Default it is named username@ucsc.edu.

 

 

11) The new account screen (username@ucsc.edu) will appear.

12) Scroll down and select the SMTP link.

 

 

13) The SMTP screen will appear.

14) Select the first link under Primary Server that will say cruzmail.ucsc.edu.

 

 

15) The cruzmail.ucsc.edu screen will appear.

Make sure that your settings match the following:

  • Use SSL is turned ON
  • Server Port: 465

 

 

16) Now, go back two menus to the new account screen (username@ucsc.edu).

 

 

17) Select the Advanced option.

Make sure that your settings match the following:

  • Use SSL is turned ON
  • Server Port: 993

 

 

You’re finished setting up your UCSC email account on your iPhone.
