POP Mail Settings for Apple Mail on Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger)

This tutorial will show you the recommended POP email settings for your Apple Mail on Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger) mail account.

 

1) Open Apple Mail

2) Select Mail > Preferences

 

3) Form the preferences menu, select Accounts tab and then click on the Server Settings at the very bottom.

 


 

4) Make sure that your settings match the following:

    • Outgoing Mail Server: cruzmail.ucsc.edu
    • Server Port: 465
    • Make sure that  Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) has been checked
    • Authentication: Password
    • User Name: (your CruzID; the part of your @ucsc.edu e-mail address before the '@') and password
    • Click OK

 

 

5) Back in the account window, select the Advanced tab

Make sure that your settings match the following:

    • Port number: 995
    • Use SSL is checked
    • Authentications type: Password
    • Unclick remove copy from server

Next step is to close the settings window by clicking on the red circle in the upper left hand corner.

 

 

If you made any changes, then the following screen will appear:

Click Save

 

 

You’re finished setting up your Apple Mail client to properly retrieve your CruzMail email via POP.
