POP Mail Settings for Microsoft Outlook 2007
This tutorial will show you the recommended POP email settings for your Microsoft Outlook mail account. The version used to make this tutorial is Microsoft Outlook 2007. 1) Open Microsoft Outlook 2007 and click on the menu labeled Tools then Account Settings.
2) You will be presented with a new pop up window that contains five editing options, "New" - "Repair" - "Change" - "Set as Default" and "Remove." Bellow these five editing options there is a box with all account types created. Click on the desired account (
3) A new window will pop up with seven entry fields and two buttons: "Test Account Settings" and "More Settings". First go through the entry fields:
4) Another window will pop up with the tabs "General" - "Outgoing Server" - "Connection" and "Advanced." Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
5) Check the box that reads "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication," then click on the Advanced tab.
6) Make sure to set "Incoming Server (POP3)" to 995. Check the box that reads "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)." Set the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" to 465 then where it reads "Use the following type of encrypted connection:" pull down the menu and select SSL. It is also a good idea to check the box that reads "Leave a copy of messages on the server." Once complete press the OK button.
