Personal pages have the following features. Please note, personal web pages may not be used for political or commercial purposes and may not include copyrighted material.
- The central web server is hosted in a controlled environment with power management and daily backups. Backups are rotated and periodically stored off-site for disaster recovery.
- Each faculty, staff and student can host their own web pages on the ITS people.ucsc.edu server.
- Each web directory supports PHP and server side includes (but not executables).
- The web server has some centrally supported cgi-bin scripts:
- Mailform: to deliver form contents to an e-mail address.
- Counter: to create a counter on a page.
- Weblog_report: to track page usage.
- Redirect: to redirect pages to other URLs.
- There is a search index set up for each unit which is updated every night (swish-e).
- There are weekly weblog reports to keep track of how often your pages are visited.
- There is support for additional MIME types such as the following (others may be available by request):
