Firefox

Firefox is a campus standard web browser produced by the Mozilla Foundation.

Get software by downloading it free from Mozilla

Mozilla Foundation oversees the development and distribution of the popular Firefox web browser. Firefox is available to use free.

Firefox 3.5 was released in June 2009.

Software Installation

Firefox is a free download from the Mozilla website. The latest version is Firefox 3.5 and ITS Software Release is currently testing it for support.

Mozilla stopped releasing security updates for Firefox 2 in December 2008.
They strongly suggest users upgrade to version 3. University policy states that campus business systems with sensitive data need to have current security updates from the vendor. There are other web browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Safari, that can be used to connect to campus systems as well. Please refer to the business system's minimum requirements to see what's compatible.

Software Support

Firefox 3 has been tested with the campus business systems that use the web to connect. Please click here to see the results. Firefox 3 is on the ITS Standard Software Support list.
