What to expect XP -> Windows 7?

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

After putting in a ticket, a tech will contact you and go over a good time to do the upgrade and also discuss the needed software. They will be able to answer questions about Windows 7 compatibility. They can also help in acquiring more memory if needed.

There is a one day turnaround on XP upgrades unless there's excessive data or unique software configurations. You should plan on some other activities while the upgrade is happening. If you need a loaner computer, the tech may be able to provide one depending on availability.

You will need to be there at the start and end of the upgrade. The tech may ask you to log on to your computer and again at the end of the upgrade. Also, please have your computer unlocked if it is secured.

At the end of the upgrade, there will be a backup of your data. ITS will secure this backup for 4 weeks, after which time, it will be erased. Be sure to double-check your data before then.

Windows 7 is very similar to XP. The tech will make sure you are connected to any printers or file shares you had before. Be sure to double-check your connections.
