ITS Staff Performance Assessment Process 2008-09

The following information is for the 2008-09 UCSC performance assessment process. Every ITS staff member, whether as supervisor or employee, is required to participate in this process.

Staff Human Resources has updated the process and forms for the 2008-09 reviews. ITS will again use Option 4 of the Performance Appraisal and Development Plan for non-represented staff and Option 1 for represented staff. Bill Parro and Maureen McCracken of Staff HR will be delivering a Performance Appraisal Writing workshop for ITS on Friday, June 19, and Monday, June 29, both from 10AM to Noon in the new SHR Training Room 161 at 1201 Shaffer Road. All ITS managers and supervisors are invited to attend. Email your RSVP to Maureen McCracken.

The timeline for this year is as follows:

  • By July 1: Employee submits self-evaluation and plan to supervisor. You may use the suggested self-appraisal form or simply provide a brief summary of your accomplishments and proposed goals for next year attached to the form.
  • By July 15: Supervisors review employees’ self-evaluations and write performance evaluations using the components of SHR form option 4 or option 1, which apply to employees’ positions. For those staff who manage or supervisor others, please be sure to complete the new section titled. “UCSC Standards for Managers and Supervisors”.
  • By July 22: ITS Senior Management Team (SMT) reviews summary of performance ratings for consistency across ITS units and suggests adjustments as appropriate.
  • By August 7: Supervisor and employee meet to discuss review. Employees may add employee comments as desired.
  • By August 14: Supervisor returns signed evaluation to Maureen McCracken, Staff HR Partner. Maureen's email is maureenm@ucsc.edu; you may also reach her at ext. 9-5877

When considering goals for the coming year, refer to the following high level goals for the ITS Division:

  • Collaboration
  • Continued development of Efficiencies
  • Enhanced Communication
