Information Security

Information Security (InfoSec) promotes the security and integrity of the university's computer systems, networks and data. The InfoSec team takes a lead role in campus security architecture, policies, standards and practices, including security of system configuration and management, network access, authentication and authorization, directory services, and data access, transmission and storage.

Information Security is charged with mitigating risk through the development and maintenance of UCSC's information technology security strategy, IT policies and best practices, security training and awareness programs, ongoing risk assessments and compliance tasks. InfoSec strives to balance confidentiality (keeping private matters private), integrity (assuring that your information is complete and accurate) and availability (having timely and reliable access to your information).
