Vice Chancellor IT Office

The ITS Division is led by Vice Chancellor of Information Technology (VCIT) Van Williams. In his role, Van ensures the strategic and operational excellence of both academic and administrative

information technology to support and advance all aspects of the campus mission. He provides leadership, direction, strategic vision, communication, and support to the ITS Division.

Van collaborates across the campus with senior leaders, vice chancellors, deans, faculty, staff, students, and other key campus stakeholders including UCSC alumni and Silicon Valley business partners to identify opportunities to leverage technology in ways that support the goals of teaching and learning, research and discovery, and outreach.

The ITS Communication team promotes IT services and security, communicates change and outage information, and shares news about progress on projects and initiatives to better serve students, faculty, and staff in support of the campus mission. More information


The UCPath Project is a UC system wide project and is one of the main tenets of the Working Smarter resolution. It is one of the most complex operational initiatives ever undertaken at the university.
