Windows 10 support ends soon

UCSC Information Technology Services Logo Banner

Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 in October 2025. To keep your computer secure and in line with UC policy, all university computers need to be running a version of Windows that’s still supported.

Not sure which version you have?
Here’s a quick way to check:

  1. Hold down the Windows key and press R
  2. In the box that pops up, type winver and select OK
You’ll see a window with your current version of Windows.

Next step – upgrade to Windows 11

If your university-owned, managed computer is eligible for a Windows 11 upgrade, ITS can help you schedule and complete the update through BigFix. Contact us today to get started.

Personally-owned computers

ITS does not provide support for personally-owned computers, but you can contact us for help upgrading your computer. There are also resources available through Microsoft:

If you have any questions about Windows 10, please reach out to the ITS  by opening a support ticket at https://slughub.ucsc.edu/its or calling 831-459-4357.
