Information Security Champion

This program was created to encourage community involvement and action to further information security goals.  Including any attempted or successful unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of computing systems, data, or networks, as well as hacking and theft to our Information Security Team. Please report all known or suspected security incidents using the Online Incident Report Form (CruzID Gold password required). Do not try to solve the issue on your own.

Submission recognition from the chief information security officer (CISO) if the incident is a new security issue or cybersecurity vulnerability that has not been originated or caused on your own behalf. Random nominees will also be awarded $20 gift cards.

All you have to do to nominate someone is fill out our Info Champ nomination form.

Program Guidelines:

Eligibility

Must be an active campus affiliate, have a CruzID and Gold password during the 2020-2021 school year.

What qualifies as a recognition-worthy event?

Actions that:

  • Reinforces the application of existing information security policies, principles, and practices
  • Reduces information security risk for the campus
  • Reminds students, staff, or faculty about the importance of information security
  • Reports a vulnerability the Information Security team was unaware of

Out of Scope

An event where you could have personally acted and avoided it, such as:

  • Your own account is compromised
  • Installing a program that compromises your device
  • Lost/stolen device
  • Receiving or responding to phishing/social engineering
