macOS Screen Saver Settings

Basic Settings

Go to System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver and choose the Screen Saver tab. Set your screen saver to start after 10 Minutes (or 15 Minutes maximum) then click on Hot Corners… in the lower right corner.

Use a Hot Corner

Select an unused corner and set it to Start Screen Saver. When you walk away from your device, use the Hot Corner to start the screen saver rather than waiting for the timeout to occur. This protects your data and privacy. Hot Corners are triggered by moving your mouse cursor to the slected corner of the screen.

Turn Off Password Required Grace Period

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and select the General tab. Check the box for Require password immediately after sleep or screen saver begins. Make certain that “immediately” is selected.
