Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo for MFA)

A secure way to verify your identity and UC Santa Cruz account in addition to your username and password. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is also known as two-step, or two-factor authentication. UCSC uses a product called Duo from Cisco to enable Multi-Factor Authentication.

  • Required for all faculty, staff, student, and sponsored accounts
  • Protects your account from unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised
  • The Duo mobile application on your device provides quick, single-button approval
  • Enroll an additional back-up device to prevent getting locked out of your accounts
