Google Apps-Only Accounts

An account that creates a campus business email address for an office or organization that can be transferred between employees and remain consistent across personnel changes. A Google Apps-Only account provides access to Gmail and other Google Workspace Services.

  • Choose a custom email alias that best represents your office or organization
  • Establish a consistent point of contact for your office or organization
  • Maintain business continuity by transferring ownership of the account between employees and delegating access

Google Apps-Only Accounts are provided at no cost

  • A UCSC faculty or staff member must request, own, and manage the account
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo for MFA) is required
  • The owner is responsible for:
    • Setting and managing the account password (this task cannot be delegated)
    • Choosing the email alias (if applicable)
    • Managing MFA enrollment and access
    • Protecting sensitive and personal data stored or shared through the account
  • All authorized users have access to the same information, including emails. There is no expectation of privacy
