ITS offers a wide variety of scheduled training classes in addition to one-on-one support and open lab sessions with subject matter experts.

Academic Information System: Intro to AIS

Now offered online! This class for new staff is mandatory in order to receive AIS account access. To take this class:

  1. Download and review the Intro to AIS training manual.

  2. Take the Intro to AIS quiz.

  3. Review Policy on Privacy of Student Records.

  4. Take the FERPA Quiz.


AIS: My Messages

Now offered online! The My Messages feature allows staff and faculty to post portal messages to students. Take this class to receive access to and learn how to use My Messages.

GARP Training Classes

GARP training is typically provided once per year to coincide with the beginning of the graduate application review cycle (usually in November). An invitation to sign up for training is sent to all active GARP users. If you would like training outside of this offering, please contact Erica Simpkins. Online training materials and videos are also available at http://graddiv.ucsc.edu/training/.


Cognos Reporting Training Classes

To sign up for reporting training classes, please email ais-reports-help.  Unless otherwise indicated, all classes are at 2300 Delaware St, Room 279. One or two classes are offered each month.
