IT Project: Communications Building Data Center Closure

This project will guide the planned closure of the Communications Building Data Center in 2026, requiring the migration of all hosted systems to alternative hosting options. The facility must close due to several structural challenges impacting both current performance and future expansion capabilities.

Green dash
  • Closure of the on-premises data center will eliminate ITS’s ability to provide large-scale physical hosting services on campus, requiring clients to transition to alternative solutions.
  • The project will strenghten virtual hosting service offerings to support research and academic divisions through modernized infrastructure, improved cost alignment, and unified support models.
