ResWiFi Secure Wireless

ResWiFi is a new free secure wireless service for UCSC students and staff living on campus in the residential halls. As of summer 2017, 25 residential halls have this service with more areas planned for future implementation.

SafeConnect is used to manage network access and enforce minimum network connectivity policies for antivirus, operating system, and application updates. SafeConnect uses CruzID and Blue password credentials to authenticate users. Guest access is not available on ResWiFi.

More details including a list of the 25 residential halls that have ResWiFi, are available here.

Features and Benefits

  • Authenticate computers.
  • Provide residents with encrypted wireless access (WPA2-PSK, 256 AES).
  • Posture assessment for computers used by student residents.
