ResWiFi Service

ACCESS RESWIFI

ResWiFi is a free encrypted network service for UCSC students and staff living on campus in the residential halls. Instructions on how to connect can be found on this web page. 

Guest access is not available on ResWiFi. Campus guests are welcome to use the UCSC-Guest WiFi service.

Connection

  • ResWiFi is compatible with most 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz devices. ITS recommends using 5 GHz for fastest service; and for desktop computers, use a dual band network interface card for best performance.
  • Personally owned WiFi routers are not allowed in residential halls with ResWifi.
  • ResWiFi does not meet standards for sensitive or protected data and should not be used for University administrative work.

Availability

ResWiFi is available 24/7. If the system requires maintenance, downtime will be conducted Monday - Friday, 3:00 AM - 7:00 AM, unless otherwise arranged with ResNet and Housing.
