Google to Gold Quick Tips
- Know your Gold password. Many users have their passwords saved onto their computers. You’ll need to enter your gold password into your UCSC Google application.
- MFA. If you’re already signed up for MFA, when the password switch happens, be ready to MFA into your UCSC Google application.
- This affects UCSC Google Apps only. Don’t be confused. Lots of folks use a personal version of Google applications. This change only applies to UCSC Google applications.
- Older versions may not work. If you are using an older version of an email client, you may need to upgrade to a newer version.
- Be Prepared. Even though this is a one time event, you may be confused about what you need to do. Contact the ITS Support Center at https://itrequest.ucsc.edu, or by email help@ucsc.edu or telephone 459-HELP(4357). if you have any questions or want to understand more.
- Remember, if all else fails, ITS recommends accessing your UCSC email via a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) by going to https://mail.google.com and signing in with your UCSC email address and your Gold password.
