Network services including wired and wireless internet may be impacted during this campuswide power outage.

UPDATE - 5:40 PM - Service is restored

The web hosting vendor reports that service is restored and the affected UCSC websites are online.

10:41 AM - Limited website outages

UCSC is aware of an issue with one of our web hosting vendors resulting in a small number of website outages. The vendor is deploying a fix which is showing positive results. More outage information.

UPDATE 5 PM - Services restored

Network services are fully operational after power was restored.

UPDATE 4:40 PM - Campus power restored

Power has been restored. Network operations will be verifying restoration.

3:35 PM - Campus power outage

PGE is experiencing an outage in our service area that is affecting main campus. ITS is monitoring the situation.

9 AM - Network connectivity interruption

ITS is investigating reports of intermittent network connectivity issues.

UPDATE 9:30 AM - Services restored

Services have been restored.  

Aug. 7, 2023

8 AM to 10 AM - Wireless network service interruption

Wireless network services were interrupted twice during scheduled maintenance on August 7 between 8AM and 10AM. Services are now fully restored.

7 AM - Campus Power Outage Impacting Network Services UPDATE

UPDATE 10:11 AM: The power has been restored to campus. Services are coming back online. 

UPDATE 10AM: Due to the campuswide electrical power outage, network services, including wired and wireless access, are impacted in all locations on campus. Electricians are working on restoring power.

8 AM - Adobe Acrobat license has expired UPDATE

You might have noticed a pop-up message that your Adobe Creative Cloud license has expired. Please ignore the message - no action is need. ITS has renewed our campus licence for another year and we are in the process of updating the systems.

11:40 AM - Login issues - resolved

ITS is investigating an outage impacting some users that were logging in to authenticated services with their Blue Password. The outage was resolved around 11:15am.

5:20 PM - Campus telephone issues - resolved

Services have been restored as of 5:20 PM. The campus telephones are now functioning properly. 

4:30 PM - Campus telephone disruption

ITS is investigating reports of issues to the UCSC VoIP telephones. The phone displays "No Service" and even though the dial tone works, calls into the phone fail. 

June 14, 2023

9:35 AM - Intermittent Network Connectivity Issues - resolved

Services have been restored as of 8:53 AM this morning. We confirmed the issue was due to our network provider, CENIC, who experienced a UC system-wide disruption that impacted our campus operations.

8:15 AM - Intermittent Network Connectivity Issues

ITS is investigating reports of intermittent network issues to the UCSC websites and other networks.


May 24, 2023

3:00 PM - UCSC websites are back online. 

The campus network issues are now resolved and IT services are restored. ITS will continue to monitor these systems throughout today and into the evening.

1:55 PM - ITS continues to investigate the outages and will update as soon as more is known.

11:14 AM - Website and other outages reported. ITS is investigating.

4:25 PM - UCSC websites are back online. 

ITS will continue to monitor the situation. 

3:48 PM - Intermittent UCSC website outages. 

We are still seeing intermittent outages to our UCSC websites. We are working to resolve this issue and will update this page once we learn more details.

7 PM-Midnight - Scheduled Campus Telephone Maintenance

The campus telephone system, including blue light and elevator phones, will experience intermittent outages on Friday, March 17, beginning at 7PM to midnight (PST). Total downtime should not exceed one hour.

10:00 AM - Network services resolved

The network outage has been restored to the Arts Buildings. Services are back online. 

7:30 AM - Network outage impacting the Arts Buildings

The Theater Arts, Elena Baskin, Digital Arts, and Music buildings are experiencing a network outage as of 8:30 AM, Jan. 20. This impacts wired and wireless network connections in addition to campus telephones for these buildings. ITS is working on retoring services. 

4:00 AM - Campus voicemail issue resolved

1:30 PM - WiFi connectivity resolved

ResNet WiFi is stabilized and operational. The issue was connected to a planned update to equipment in the affected locations. ITS will continue to monitor our network. 

11:20 AM - WiFi connectivity issues

ResNet WiFi service is experiencing some intermittent outages. ITS is working to better understand the situation and scope of the problem. The following locations are impacted: Family Student Housing, Kresge and Porter housing.

1:50 PM - WiFi connectivity RESOLVED

The campus WiFi service, eduroam is stabalized and operational. ITS staff continue to work with our network equipment vendor to identify and prevent future issues.

9:00 AM - WiFi connectivity issues Update

The campus WiFi connection, Eduroam, is currently back online. ITS is working diligently to figure out root cause and will be performing configuration changes today, Oct. 6, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. During this time there is ongoing risk of intermittent interruptions to the WiFi Eduroam connection.

4:50 PM - WiFi connectivity issues RESOLVED

Wifi connectivity service has been restored. ITS staff continue to work with our network equipment vendor to identify and resolve the root cause of these intermittent outages to prevent future issues.

The campus is currently experiencing a sporadic network connectivity issue that is impacting the campus WiFi service. ITS is working to better understand the situation and scope of the problem. The following locations are impacted: Merrill Faculty Annex, McHenry Library, Humanities/ Social Sciences 350

12:48 PM - UPDATE - WiFi connectivity issues RESOLVED 

Wifi connectivity service has been restored. In partnership with the vendor, ITS will be making a configuration change to remediate the situation most likely tomorrow morning. ITS will continue to monitor the issue. No further updates will be provided.


11:20 AM - UPDATE - WiFi connectivity issues 

We are currently experiencing a sporadic network connectivity issue that is impacting the campus WiFi service as of today at 11:30 AM, Sept. 28, 2022. ITS is working to better understand the situation and scope of the problem.

3:34 PM - UPDATE - WiFi connectivity issues RESOLVED

The connectivity issue with the WiFi service has been resolved and ITS is in the process of fully restoring services.
