UC Computer Security Basics The University of California has developed an excellent online introduction to computer security. This tutorial takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and provides important basic information about computer security. There is a quiz and certificate at the end for individuals who need to demonstrate completion. Please note that some of the links in this tutorial and its menus are for UC San Diego because it was developed there, but the primary information applies to people at all UCs. UCSC Computer Security Self-Paced Tutorial Rev. January 2010 The following ten modules provide an in-depth, non-technical introduction to computer security and good computing practices. They can be used together as a comprehensive curriculum or individually to address specific topics. Each module is designed to provide tools and information about what to do and what not to do to keep your computer and data safe and secure. Each module includes a certificate of completion.
Introduction to Computer Security For staff, faculty or student employees who prefer a classroom environment over online training, Introduction to Computer Security is a fun, informative, non-technical class that covers simple, practical ways to help you keep your computer and data safe and secure. This class covers the material in the computer security self-paced tutorial in an interactive environment.
