Scanner Help on a Mac

Scanning with Image Capture (easier and more automatic, good for most scanning needs)

  1. Place your document in the scanner and power on the scanner.
  2. Navigate to and launch the Image Capture application, located in the Software > Scanning Software folder on the Desktop.
  3. Click on the Show Details button in the lower right of the window to set scanning options. Specifically, check to see if Resolution, Auto selection, Scan To and Format meet your needs, and name your scanned document appropriately.
  4. Click the Scan button to scan your document. It should save by default to the Desktop.

Scanning with VueScan (more refined options for complex scanning preferences)

  1. Place your document in the scanner and power on the scanner.
  2. Navigate to and launch the VueScan application, located in the Software > Scanning Software folder on the Desktop.
  3. In the left pane, adjust the settings to your preferences, then click Preview to test. Adjust settings as needed until you are satisfied with your document Preview.
  4. To perform the final scan, click the Scan button. This will scan and save your document to the Desktop and automatically launch it in Adobe Photoshop.
  5. From within Photoshop, make the edits you’d like and save them, or close Photoshop and select a different application with which to edit your scanned document.

Troubleshooting

• If scanned document does not save to the Desktop by default and you did not indicate a specific location to which to save your scan(s), check the Pictures folder in the folder Hard Disk > Users > labuser > Pictures.
