Vice Chancellor for IT Aisha Jackson and interim Vice Chancellor for Research John MacMillan are working together to form the Committee on Research Computing and Data Infrastructure committee through open nominations in order to create a strong, diverse team.
This committee will empower our campus community through valuable strategic partnerships that nurture our world-leading research to achieve its full potential via a process of consultation and shared governance in an equitable, inclusive and meaningful way. It will help us make informed decisions about tools, processes, and policy that impacts the faculty research experience. Faculty researchers are encouraged to apply for the committee in order to offer valuable insight and help make these important decisions.
“Technology is continually evolving in research IT, and we need to be more nimble and adaptive to the continued evolution of tech. Being on this committee means being a part of those conversations to shape the direction of how we do research computing and the evolution of research computing on this campus,” John MacMillan said.
“I think this will be a great opportunity to have a place at the table to help inform the direction for the campus,” Aisha Jackson said. “There are some things that are status quo that we need to clean up that this committee can help with, in addition to visioning for the future.”
