Credit Card Data

Credit card data, also known as Payment Card Industry (PCI) data, includes information related to all payment cards, including credit, debit, Pro-Cards, and Corporate Cards. Credit card data is governed by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and overseen by the UC Santa Cruz Payment Card Coordinator. 

Credit card data is classified at data protection level P4, which requires the highest level of security. Anyone wishing to accept credit cards on the university’s behalf must first contact the UC Santa Cruz Payment Card Coordinator at merchantservices@ucsc.edu for approval. Credit card data cannot be stored in any electronic format.

Examples of Credit Card Data

  • Cardholder name
  • Credit/debit card account number
  • Credit/debit card expiration date
  • Credit/debit card verification number
  • Credit/debit card security code
