ITS is rolling out the latest Zoom update, Zoom 6.0, now called Zoom Workplace. This rebranding is part of a broader effort to enhance user experience and offer a more integrated workspace solution.
New Features
This update is designed to make the interface more user-friendly and visually appealing, allowing users to tailor their workspace to their preferences. Here are some of the new features:
- Customization options include choosing a color scheme and setting a meeting wallpaper
- In-meeting toolbar that allows users to add and remove features
- Multi-speaker view which dynamically adapts the meeting’s video layout to highlight current and recent speakers.
Accessing the Update
Zoom will be automatically updated on ITS managed computers on Thursday, May 23. For those with unmanaged computers, the updated Zoom Workplace is already available. While it's not mandatory to install the new version immediately, users who wish to experience the new features can manually update their client by selecting "Check for updates" within the application.
