Siteimprove
Do you want to make sure your website is accessible for our campus community, including people with disabilities? Accessible sites reach a bigger and more diverse audience, are easier for everyone to use, and comply with UC policy.
What is Siteimprove?
Siteimprove is an easy-to-use website monitoring tool that helps improve site content quality, increase accessibility compliance, and enhance your website's visibility with improved search engine optimization (SEO). Siteimprove is funded entirely through UCOP and offered to all UC campuses, in an effort to make websites accessible to everyone, particularly to people with disabilities.
How do I get access to Siteimprove?
UC has a systemwide contract with Siteimprove that provides for unlimited users and allows an unlimited number of pages to be scanned. UCSC faculty, staff, and students are eligible to use Siteimprove with your UCSC-affiliated websites. Submit your request by filling out the Siteimprove Request Access Request if you need to get an account, add a site, or edit your access. For any other questions, feel free to email help@ucsc.edu. We are prioritizing site managers for this tool, but access is granted otherwise on a case-by-case basis.
How Siteimprove Works
Siteimprove crawls your website every five days, analyzing your content to identify quality assurance issues, ensure accessibility compliance, and enhance visibility with improved SEO .
When you log on to Siteimprove, the effectiveness of your website is displayed in an easy-to-use dashboard, with a Digital Certainty Index™ that turns complex website measures into one simple score.
With just a few clicks, you'll be able to view errors, mistakes, and areas for improvement, with guidance on how to fix the issues spelled out in plain English. As you resolve issues, you can re-crawl pages of your site and watch your scores improve.
