*You can configure ResWiFi off-campus or in a non-ResWiFi location. However, your Linux PC will only connect in supported locations. Not sure where ResWiFi is offered? Check here.

Manual Setup

The instructions below are for manually configuring a Linux PC. We recommend you consult your Linux distribution documentation for exact instructions.

Note: ResWiFi and eduroam use the same CA certificate.

  1. Click here to download the CA certificate.
  2. Connect to ResWiFi using the following details:
    • Security: WPA2/3-Enterprise / 802.1X EAP
    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Identity (username): your UCSC email (cruzid@ucsc.edu)
    • Password: your Gold password

Wired Residential Network

Some residential buildings do not offer ResWiFi, or only as a supplemental service in hallways/lounges. To connect in these locations, consult our Wired Access page. Not sure which connection type you have? Check here.

Family Student Housing

Students at FSH should connect to ResWiFi for the most secure connection. Spouses and children (without a CruzID) may connect to the FSH-Family network. Use the following details to connect to FSH-Family on a Linux PC:

Network Name (SSID): FSH-Family

Password (PSK): SlugFamily
