Software Release
Software Release Definition
New versions of software are released at a very frequent rate. There are more than 80 applications on the core and add-on standard software list for Windows and Mac. Depending on the application, they could have several updates per year. The Software Release Process allows time for testing and planning for each update. ITS will be better suited to proactively plan for new releases before distributing and installing them to campus. If there are any issues or conflicts with the software in the campus computing environment, this process will help prepare for a workable solution.
The role of the Software Release Manager is to coordinate planning and testing for standard end-user applications. This includes identifying and tracking new software versions and updates and coordinating the completion of support plans.
