Windows 11

Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 11, was released on October 5th, 2021.

ITS has tested Windows 11 with campus applications and systems.

ITS can now support Windows 11. Please check in with your local ITS tech before upgrading.

ITS recommends only upgrading if there is a business need. Windows 11 has some interface and functional changes from Windows 10. Since Windows 10 works well with all campus applications and systems, there is no advantage to upgrading to Windows 11 at this time.  Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 until Oct. 14, 2025.

Windows 11 system requirements

Minimum requirements:

• CPU: 1 Ghz or faster on 2 or more 64-bit compatible cores
• 4 GB RAM
• Storage: 64 GB or more
• System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
• Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
• Graphics card compatible with DirectX12 or later
• Display resolution: 720p or greater
