Catalina does not support 32-bit applications. Please be aware of what 32-bit applications you may use before updating to Catalina.
If you are unsure about how Catalina would affect your Mac, please contact your local ITS technician or the Help Desk (459-HELP).
The main issues with Catalina are around software compatibility and security:
  • No support for 32-bit apps (like the campus system PPS)
  • Read-only system volume
  • Gatekeeper requires app notarization
  • Activation lock (like iOS) may be enabled by clients for Macs with T2 chip
  • Standard security & management apps need updates (Cisco AnyConnect, SentinelOne, BigFix, Jamf Pro)
